At the scene of the program, Mr. Hao shared: Compaq Sip is the only innovative medicine in this year’s industrial award-winning project, and many friends call it "Tiny" very affectionately. Its capacity is only 0.2 ml, which is only a drop of water. However, it took more than ten years to innovate and produce it industrially, costing nearly 1 billion yuan. In daily storage and transportation, it must be kept at a constant temperature of 2 to 8 degrees Celsius. Many friends have heard of cataract and glaucoma, but many friends are not familiar with macular degeneration, which is one of the three major blinding diseases in the world. There are more than 4 million patients with macular degeneration in China. If the patients are not treated effectively, they will live in darkness forever. Today, with this drop of water, more than 500,000 patients with macular degeneration in China have been treated more safely and effectively, and at the same time, the treatment cost has been reduced by two thirds, saving nearly 10 billion yuan in the medical cost of the whole society.

How to change the helplessness in Dying to Survive?

In September 2016, Compaq Sip was approved by the FDA of the United States, becoming the first innovative drug in China to directly carry out phase III clinical research in the United States. It is conducting clinical research in nearly 50 countries and more than 300 hospitals around the world, and will soon enter the global market and contribute to the "China Program".

How to ensure the effectiveness of each drug?

The inspection of drugs is a destructive inspection, which is one-off. Therefore, any piece of medicine that enters the market, any medicine is untested. However, to ensure that it is qualified, all pharmaceutical companies must do GMP certification, and a concept of "batch" will be introduced. Mr. Hao sighed with emotion: drug innovation is a small probability event. From research and development to industrial production, drugs are a road that cannot be turned back. No one can guarantee whether the huge investment in the early stage will be successful. The failure of one link will often lead to the abandonment of the whole project, and the efforts that have been struggling for more than ten years or even longer will be wasted.
